Abstract

Since the water tree can grow at a relatively low electric stress and quite often change into the electrical tree |1). the retardation of water treeing is of vital importance in improving the reliability of underground power cable. In this work, we have reported the relationship between the water tree retardation phenomena and the mechanical properties in ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) blended XLPE. In addition to mechanical properties, we have also studied the electrical properties such as the dissipation factor and AC breakdown strength.
