Abstract

A new antenna in the form of wire array is presented for operation at 300 GHz. The wire array is placed above a dielectric cavity with via-walls that prevents substrate mode propagation. Although the wire array is similar to regular patch antenna in its operating principle, HFSS simulations predict a slightly enhanced performance with more than 50% of radiation efficiency over frequency band of 274 to 317 GHz.
