Abstract

In this study, an assessment is carried out on the time-dependent behaviors with various curing environments of the high-strength concrete that is applied in actual FCM bridges. For this assessment, the shrinkages of air-dried, sealed, and moist 100 × 100 × 400 mm prismatic specimens were measured. In addition, tests were performed on the compressive creep of 3 and 28 days aged concrete in tap water and 10% CaCl2 solutions. The results were then compared with traditional test results of air-dried and sealed specimens. Significant differences were shown between sealed and moist specimens for time-dependent behaviors of the concrete that according to various curing circumstances, not only for shrinkage but also for creep. Hence, some reconsideration needs to be made of the traditional creep test methods for predicting the creep and shrinkage of actual concrete structures.
