Abstract

The causes of accumulation of inadvertent interchange energy are investigated using a two-area analysis. This analysis is based on vector decomposition and is illustrated on the two-dimensional ( epsilon ,I//i ) plane. Accumulation of inadvertent interchange energy I//1 and the decomposed vector components caused by areas i and r, ( epsilon //i , I//i //i ) and ( epsilon //r , I//i //r ), are investigated through the computer simulation of a six-area system. The selective participation in time error ( epsilon ) correction and the effect of introducing frequency offset are considered. It is shown that the present two-step correction scheme of time error and inadvertent interchange energy can be modified to reduce unnecessary regulation.
