Color-octet contributions to associated J/ψ+γ hadroproduction are studied in detail, and found to be negligible, compared to the ordinary color-singlet contribution. Within the color-singlet model Jψ+γ production in leading order is possible only through the gluon-gluon fusion process. Therefore, associate J/ψ+γ hadroproduction remains useful as a clean channel to probe the gluon distribution inside the proton, to study the heavy quarkonia production mechanism, and to find the proton's spin structure.
