Conductor microstructures by laser curing of printed gold nanoparticle ink

Abstract

The laser-based curing of printed nanoparticle ink to create microlines of electrical resistivity approaching that of bulk gold was investigated. It was observed that the gold nanosized particles under 5 nm in diameter possess lower melting temperature with respect to the melting temperature of bulk gold. The gold particles were deposited at the evaporation interface contact line. It was found that the morphology and electrical properties of the gold line could be controlled by modulating the spatial distribution of the laser beam intensity.
