Abstract

Investigation determined that the chloride complexation suggested by other techniques is incomplete, yielding higher apparent COD values (apparent COD quantitatively equals the real COD plus 'chloride COD'). This 'chloride COD' has either to be quantified or eliminated. The proposed method, which is a modification of the micro-scale COD analysis, has been used successfully for a number of high saline industrial wastes.
