Design of a preload device for PZT actuators using permanent magnets

Abstract

Design of a preload device for piezoelectric actuators using permanent magnets was presented. The use of permanent magnets results in the slight increase of the total stroke of the actuator to the same electrical input voltage. It was found that the preloading force decreases slightly as the gap increases.
