Sn-based composite nanofiber electrodes composed of tin (Sn) and amorphous tin oxide (SnOx)/carbon (C) were synthesized via electrospinning and subsequent thermochemical reduction at 500°C in Ar. The morphologies and phases of the composite nanofibers were characterized using x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. The Sn-SnOx/C composite nanofiber electrode demonstrates enhanced capacity retention compared with that of pure SnO2 nanofibers.
