Ferroelectric/superconductor PbZr0.52Ti0.48O3/ Y1Ba2Cu3O7-x/LaAlO3 heterostructure prepared by Nd: YAG pulsed laser deposition

Abstract

Nd:YAG laser was used in the fabrication of lead zirconate titanates (PZT)/YBCO heterostructures deposited on LaAlO3 having excellent characteristics of both superconductivity and ferroelectricity. Such integration of properties has great potential for low-temperature applications of PZT/YBCO films for memory cells. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and rocking curve data describing the attributes of these films were also discussed. XRD for single YBCO layer and YBCO/PZT bilayer deposited on LaAlO3 showed (001) peaks in the spectra. It was also noted that even for twinned LaAlO3 substrate, the widths of rocking curves were narrow, with the full width at half-maximum FWHM = 1.0°, 0.9°, and 0.3° for PZT, YBCO, LaAlO3 respectively.
