Abstract

This study investigates the heating performance characteristics for the inner condenser of airsourced mobile heat pump system for electrically driven vehicles. The air-sourced mobile heat pump system was developed as a reverse cycle for heating the cabin. Furthermore the heating performances of the inner condenser have been evaluated by experiments under various operating conditions of the outdoor temperatures, EEV openings, refrigerant flow rates, and electric compressor revolutions. As a result, heating performances of the tested inner condenser were decreased with the decrease of the outdoor temperature due to the reduced refrigerant flow rate but increased with the increase of the compressor revolutions. In addition, for ensuring the sufficient ventilation temperature over 45 °C in low outdoor temperature regions below -10 °C, the additional heating source for the thermal comfort of the cabin heating would be necessary. Exergy destruction of the inner codneser with the variation of operating conditions was analyzed to find out the effective way of useful energy for heating the cabin room.
