Abstract

Editors’ introduction The challenge at the heart of HyperReality is the idea of teleporting together threedimensional images of people, things and places that are distant from each other. We teleported sound when Bell invented the telephone. We teleported two-dimensional images when Baird invented television. Now we can do it with three-dimensional images. This means that if you have a camera on a crossroads in London, then you can observe the traffic patterns in 3D from an office in Tokyo and discuss the traffic flow problem with a group of experts in both places.
