Illumination processing algorithm for color image under complex illumination conditions

Abstract

During the process of acquiring color images, the color deviation of images acquired under different illumination conditions is fairly significant. This paper presents a kind of illumination processing algorithm for color image under complex illumination conditions. This algorithm uses the pixels near the edge to evaluate the color deviation information of the original image. The white balance corrects the color deviation of images with the color deviation information to eliminate the phenomenon of color deviation and make the color return to its original color under normal illumination. Aiming at uneven luminance and low luminance, luminance gain curved surface is acquired so as to enhance the three components of RGB color image at the same ratio, and then the final color image is obtained while the color remains invariant. As shown by the experimental results, both the visual subjective assessment and objective test data demonstrate that this algorithm can maintain the color constancy of those images having color deviation or being under low illumination or other complex illumination conditions. This algorithm has good universality and can effectively improve the contrast and luminance of an image, highlight the local details, and produce strong color hierarchical effect.
