Layout design of variable size facilities with an input and output points using center of gravity and simulated annealing algorithm

Abstract

In this paper, we focus on the facility layout problem(FLP) in which the facility has a rectangular shape and an input and output points. We develop a heuristic algorithm in which the facilities are arranged according to layout algorithm using center of gravity and then simulated annealing algorithm is applied to improve the solution. The computational results show that the proposed algorithm provides the better solution than exiting algorithms.
