Mechanical properties of off-stoichiometric celsian glass-ceramics

Abstract

The off-stoichiometric celsian glass-ceramics having a composition of 88.8 wt% SrO·Al2O3·2SiO2-11.2 wt% Al2O3 (SA2S-A) containing 3 wt% B2O3 (SA2S-A)B have high potential to be used for a variety of applications including composite matrices and substrates. However, their mechanical properties must meet the requirements for the applications. In this context, the mechanical properties of (SA2S-A)B prepared by hot pressing were examined and compared to those of the stoichiometric SA2S and other glass-ceramics.
