Abstract

A new concept of active muffler system which reduces the conventional passive mufflers backpressure and overcomes problems of other active muffler methods was presented. Active muffler system includes U-shaped length-variable bypass pipe attached to an exhaust pipe. It was found that the bypass pipe system was used in the high rpm range, thus reducing the total system size.
