New architecture of optical cell compressor and expander for WDM/TDM switching systems

Abstract

A new scheme of cell compression and expansion is presented. This cell compressor has minimized number of components and highly reduces the accumulation of ASE noise due to semiconductor optical amplifier. The cell expander using an NOLM is also proposed, which has the capability of ultra-high speed cell decompression over 100 Gbps.
