Optical nonlinearities of plasmons in single gold nanorods

Abstract

We measure third-order optical nonlinearities of plasmons in single chemicallysynthesized gold nanorods using a novel interferometric scattering technique. We observe ultrafast, coherent material nonlinearities that are enhanced by localization of light in the rods.
