Abstract

Photoconductivity of single-bilayer nanotubes containing poly(p-phenylenevinylene) (PPV) and carbonized-PPV layers was analyzed. PPV nanotubes (PNT) were prepared by the CVDP of PPV on the inside pore surfaces of a nanoporous alumina membrane. PNTs so prepared were carbonized to the corresponding CPNTs at 750°C for 1 h under an Ar stream. The prepared PPV nanotubes were dispersed in anhydrous methanol and then sonicated for a minute before spreading on a pattern consisting of Au electrodes and aluminum gate electrodes. The results show that the longer the decay time of the excitons in PNT, the higher will be the possibility for the excitons to migrate to the interface between the PNT and the CPNT layers.
