Abstract

For the past decade, researches seeking systematic understanding of molecular interactions or biological behaviors in single cells at single-molecule resolution, have been intensively done by many scientists. by many scientists. Accordingly, much attention regarding biomedical applications of nanoscaleelectro-mechanical systems (NEMS) has been given to single molecule-level biosensor/bioelectronics and in vivo diagnostics in a single biological cell. cell. This trend has served as the fuel of the development in the field of NEMS for biomedical applications. in the field of NEMS for biomedical applications. That development of the NEMS techniques has also made contributions to advance the understanding of the molecular interaction or the biological behaviors. interaction or the biological behaviors. Therefore, one of the most valuable topics is to review novel NEMS techniques that can be applied in the biomedical and clinical fields. that can be applied in the biomedical and clinical fields. In this article, we briefly survey important and notable results among recent research activities in NEMS, and discuss their importance and possible applications in relevant fields. importance and possible applications in relevant fields.
