Scalable transmission control: SVC-based dynamic resource allocation for mobile IPTV service

Abstract

In this paper, we propose a scalable transmission control (STC) scheme as a new framework of radio resource allocation for mobile IPTV service, especially when scalable video coding (SVC) is used for all programs channels in Mobile WiMAX network. We present a suboptimal solution to the STC problem and demonstrate that the overall service coverage can be significantly improved by the proposed framework for the given system capacity.
