Abstract

Co100-xPtx, alloy thin-films were produced to investigate structural transformation during thermal annealing and ensuing magnetic properties of the thin films. Maximum coercivity of 7000 Oe was obtained with Co61Pt39, annealed at 700°C due to precipitation of the CoPt intermetallic compound. We also observed the exchange coupling between Co and CoPt and the composite film acted as a single phase system despite consisting of Co and CoPt grains.
