Abstract

To increase product reliability by improving the durability, and corrosion resistance of air conditioner cycle pipes, and to achieve miniaturization, and weight reduction through the simplification of the steel construction system and pipe structure, the thickness of 50~70% could ensure greater strength and workability, than that of the existing copper pipes. We are promoting the development of usable, flexible STS piping. In this study, the tensile and fatigue properties of STS 304J1, which is considered as a piping material, and TIG welds used in piping manufacturing, were verified using an experimental method. Additionally, the stress generated in STS pipes under operating conditions, was predicted using the finite element method by numerical analysis; and the stress management method of the product was derived by predicting its life span corresponding to the stress range, from the fatigue life curve.
