Abstract

Manganese-doped BaAl12O19 phosphor particles were prepared using spray pyrolysis. Spray pyrolysis was chosen for its many advantages including good brightness, submicron size, spherical morphology, and non-aggregation. Rare earth-doped multicomponent particles with pure phase were also prepared at a lower temperature than that of the solid state reaction. The particles were relatively uniform in size and composition because of a microscale reaction within a droplet and the lack of milling process in the spray pyrolysis process.
