Abstract

Lasing action in ring-type resonators defined by two-dimensional photonic crystals on a free-standing slab with InGasP active layers emittin at 1.55 μm was proposed and demonstrated. The photonic crystal ring laser consists of 6 wveguides and 6 bent regions. Hence, this structre was used to investigte the guiding properties in photonic crystal waveguide.
