Abstract
We have investigated the electrochromic properties of nickel oxide as a function of methanol concentration. It is shown that the transmittance of the aged nickel oxide monotonically increases with increasing methanol concentration over a wide range of 0.1-5 molar in a liquid solution for a direct methanol fuel cell. It is demonstrated that the methanol concentration can be visualized by means of the electrochromic properties of the aged nickel oxide.
